Flint Official Blames “Fuc*ing Ni**ers Who Don’t Pay Their Water Bill” For The Water Crises

Phil Stair, an official with a publicly funded land bank, has resigned from his post after an audio recording of him blaming Flint’s water crises on “f*cking ni**ers” who don’t pay their water bills was leaked.

The sales manager for Genesee County Land Bank resigned on Monday when he made the false and racially charged comments about the city’s water crises, according to MLive.

Stair can be heard on the recording saying, “Flint has the same problems as Detroit — f*cking n*****s don’t pay their bills.”

The made the racist comment while talking to environmental activist and journalist Chelsea Lyons.

Lyons has been a vocal critic of land bank, which takes over tax-foreclosed properties and either tears them down or rehabilitates them so they can sell them for a profit. They are currently Flint’s biggest property owner.

“The Land Bank is taking up all of the properties in Flint,” she said. “They are pushing people out of neighborhood.”

“I am deeply troubled by (the statements),” Michele Wildman, the land bank’s executive director, said. “The citizens of Flint deserve to have trust in their public officials.”
