The Democrat presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders’ wife Jane made it clear under no uncertain terms that she had never caught wind of a campaign surrogate make grievances about ‘’corporate democratic whores.’’ She was speaking on Thursday as she emphasized that she ‘’can’t imagine’’ anyone ever conceiving assassinating Hillary Clinton’s character in that way.

The response was necessitated by the actions of campaign surrogate Paul Song who ranted at ‘’corporate Democratic whores’’ during a campaign rally held in Washington Square Park on Wednesday. To little effect, Song tried to make things better by tweeting that the reference had been aimed at Democrats in Congress, rather than Hillary Clinton specifically.

Jane Sanders happened to be at the event in question, but was adamant when talking to Chris Cuomo of CNN that the statement was never uttered. “That was translated as being code for something about Hillary Clinton,” Cuomo attempted to clarify. “Do you believe that, and what do you want to say about that choice of words?”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t hear it at all,” Sanders proclaimed shamelessly. “Strange choice of words. And I can’t imagine anybody was speaking about Secretary Clinton that way. I don’t know who said that.”

The Democrat hopeful’s spouse did acknowledge the element of responsibility that campaign camps had over what their surrogates said. She however dismissed the significance of the ‘’whore’’ remark. “I think a mischoice of words is not as important as trying to carry out a strategy of trying to disqualify people or trying to make them seem less than,” she stated. “So, I think there is a lot of that to go around.”

Interestingly, Bernie Sanders himself decried Song’s conduct on Twitter, stating, “Dr. Song’s comment was inappropriate and insensitive. There’s no room for language like that in our political discourse,”
