During an interview with Fox & Friends on Monday, Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway said that President Donald Trump’s tweet about being investigated for obstruction of justice was actually an ironic statement meant to stress the laughable Russian investigation.

Conway came on Fox to explain why Trump’s Friday tweet contradict what his attorney Jay Sekulaw was saying on Sunday, that the president is not under investigation. Conway claims that Trump was reacting to an article in the Washington Post about him being investigated, even though he never received confirmation that he really was being investigated.

“That’s the President responding to a Washington Post report that included five anonymous sources,” Conway said. “And that’s the President in his 140 characters, through his significant social media platform, Ainsley, telling everybody, ‘wow, look at the irony here.’”

Conway also complained about how American taxpayers were paying “tens of millions” of dollars for an investigation that is going nowhere.
