Jerry Falwell: “Trump Is Exactly Like King David, An Adulterer And A Murderer But God Chose Him”

Anyone backing the controversial real estate tycoon, Donald Trump in his most recent quest to sit in the oval office has his work cut out for him. Trump has stirred trouble wherever he’s gone, from offending other nationalities to promoting violence at his rallies. Jerry Falwell. Jr. , the school president of Liberty University found himself on the hot seat as he attempted to do just that. Falwell was responding to the school’s newspaper interview on why he had chosen to back the infamous mogul.

The fact that the school president once likened Trump to the likes of Jesus Christ and Martin Luther King Jr. , set the stage for what would undoubtedly be an entertaining, if not somewhat bizarre, interview. Falwell reminded all conservative Christians against the Trump campaign that “God called King David a man after God’s own heart even though he was an adulterer and a murderer.”

He went on to state that it “is sad to see Christians attacking other Christians because they don’t support the same candidate or the candidate who they believe is the most righteous.” This statement was laden with irony considering that defamation and character assassination of fellow Christians based on their support for opposing political candidates is what the modern Religious Right movement, co – founded by his father, is best known for.

The interview notes detailed an experience that Falwell recalled affectionately, a treat on the GOP politician’s 757. The academic head was won over by a hearty helping of Wendy’s cheeseburgers and an Elton John concert that was played on the television.

The notes, in part, read, ‘’ Trump then asked Falwell to stay the night and follow him on his campaign stops for the next day. “We went to the airport, and there was Trump’s 757 all lit up on the runway,” Falwell said. “So we walked on the plane, and we thought we certainly would be sitting in the back with Secret Service. But he said, ‘No, come on up.’ He brought us up front. He’s got this big living room with this big screen TV. He’s got a master bedroom he showed us. Then he let my son and his wife actually sit in the cockpit to take off because my son’s a pilot. Then we sat there with him the whole time, just across the table.”

Left in awe after the star treatment offered by Donald Trump, Falwell’s faith in him was sealed. It would seem this is the case with other Liberty affiliates who are of the opinion that only Trump can truly make America great again.
