President Donald Trump’s former senior advisor and CNN contributor Jack Kingston insisted on Tuesday that Trump needs to get closer to authoritarian regimes because our allies on the European Union are “extremely liberal.”
Following Trump’s first trip abroad as president, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Wesley Clark insisted that Trump was wrong to not voice his support for the foundation of the NATO alliance: an attack on one is an attack on all.
When CNN host Alisyn Camerota asked Kingston about the president showing a “cozier relationship with Saudi Arabia” and a “chillier” relationship with Germany and France.
“I am comfortable because I don’t think it’s that chilly,” Kingston replied. “But if you look at what the EU has become, the EU is to the left of Bernie Sanders.”
“We know that the EU is extremely liberal,” he added.
