Sen. Jeff Sessions, who had a long career as a prosecuting attorney and is now an avid supporter of Donald Trump, said on Sunday that he wasn’t sure if aggressively grabbing a woman’s genitals without her approval is necessarily sexual assault.

A 2005 video was recently released that has the Republican presidential nominee claiming that he could kiss women and “grab them by the pu**y,” and there would be no repercussion because he was a “star.”

According to Weekly Standard, Session admitted after Sunday night’s debate that the former reality star used “improper language,” but declined to label Trump’s actions as sexual assault.

“I don’t characterize that as sexual assault, I think that’s a stretch,” Sessions said. “I don’t know what he meant.”

Sessions served as a U.S. attorney from 1981 to 1993 and as Alabama’s attorney general from 1994 to 1996. When the magazine asked him if grabbing a woman’s genitals was sexual assault, he said, “I don’t know. It’s not clear that he — how that would occur.”
