Rebecca Shabad, a reporter from the press, The Hill, put back the flame in an old publication that first appeared in the Time Magazine interview, in which former president, Jimmy Carter passed judgment on Hillary Clinton for her ill – performance during her term as the American Secretary of State.
Shabad went to great lengths to reveal the fact that the former leader of the U.S. felt that Clinton had not acted adequately in executing her duties as Secretary of State, at the time of her office. These comments were made by Mr Carter during a phone interview with Time magazine, having addressed the Civil Rights Summit in Austin Texas.
The article clearly shows the Nobel Prize Winner’s condemnation of the Democratic presidential hopeful, as he is quoted as having said, “In this occasion, when Secretary Clinton was Secretary of State, she took very little action to bring about peace. It was only John Kerry’s coming into office that reinitiated all these very important and crucial issues.’’
Carter was also asked to respond to the United States’ foreign policy which seemed to promote warfare globally. This was in line with a quote he had made that “the U.S. is the No. 1 warmonger on earth.” Responding to this, Carter said, ‘’ Yes, it is. It has been. You can look at the record: ever since the United Nations was formed after the Second World War, the United States has almost constantly been at war somewhere. There are about 30 countries where we have initiated armed conflict.’’
Shabad decided to keep the report as identical to the original as possible, feeling that the impact would be sufficient without much alterations being made.
