Although the state government shutdown all state parks in New Jersey, they won’t be kicking one family out.

Governor Chris Christie said his wife and kids will be spending the long 4th of July holiday weekend at their summer house at Island State Park.

The beach house is among the many perks Christie and his family gets to enjoy while being the state’s chief executive. The governor also has access to Drumthwacket, the official gubernatorial mansion located in Princeton.

When Christie was asked by a reporter if he thought it was right that his family was allowed to enjoy a state park that New Jersey residents couldn’t go to because of the government shutdown, he claimed that the beach house was not part of the park and they don’t use any state services.

“I don’t know if it’s fair, but … my family doesn’t ask for any services while we are there.” Christie said.

When Christie was asked about it again on Saturday, he said, “Run for governer, and you can have a residence there.”

During his monthly call-in show earlier this week, Christie admitted that not only will his family be at the beach house, but so will friends of his son Andrew.
