Wayne LaPierre gave a speech on Friday at the National Rifle Association’s Leadership Forum in Atlanta, Georgia, claiming that “leftist zealots” are attempting to “destroy President Trump.” He said that they have already taken over the school system and the media, which they have used against American values, freedom and the truth.
“If we don’t stand up to them—and I mean now—an entire generation of Americans could be lost, and our nation along with them,” he said. “It’s up to us to speak up against the three most dangerous voices in America: academic elites, political elites, and media elites. These are America’s greatest domestic threats.”
The executive vice president of the gun group claims that these groups are spreading lies in an effort to “hijack our youth” to brainwash them with anti-Americanism.
LaPierre said that the indoctrination of America’s youth resulted in Sen. Bernie Sander’s rise of popularity: “Bernie Sanders was not a ‘movement,’ as a fawning media called his campaign. Bernie is a political predator of young voters who were lied to by school teachers and college professors.”
LaPierre claims that journalists helped push Sanders’ “message of big government socialism.”
“When did the media stop being journalists and start becoming PR flacks for the destruction of our country?” he asked.
