During Monday’s press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was visibly distressed when he was asked about the recording President Donald Trump supposedly made of his meetings with former FBI Director James Comey.
Many people were shocked when Trump said on Friday that Comey was lying under oath when he said that the president told him to “let go” of the investigation involving Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election and Flynn’s role in it.
Even though Trump claims Comey is not telling the truth, he refuses to confirm or deny that he has recordings of the conversations he had with Comey , which can prove him right.
One reporter questioned why the president would wait to release such recordings if they prove that he was right about Comey lying to the Senate, but Spicer just said that Trump would release or not release them whenever he thought would be the right time.
“I think the president made it clear on Friday that he would get back as soon as possible on this,” Spicer said.
“So what’s he waiting for, what’s the delay?” the reporter asked.
“He’s waiting for… he’s not waiting for anything,” Spicer stammered. “When he’s ready to further discuss it, he will, but he laid out his position very clearly, very concisely on Friday.”
