During a press conference on Thursday, President Donald Trump assumed a black reporter was already friendly with the Congressional Black Caucus and asked her to set up a meeting between him and the group.
The Congressional Black Caucus quickly pointed out how its members had already sent him a letter requesting to meet a month ago, but claims that the president has not responded to their letter.
“We sent you a letter on January 19, but you never wrote us back,” the CBC posted on its official Twitter account. “Sad!”
After asking Trump the question about CBC, reporter April Ryan reminded the president that she is “a journalist, not a convener!”
NewOneNow host Roland Martin seemed to echo Ryan’s and CBC’s reaction to Trump and described him as being “stuck on stupid” with his lack of knowledge about the CBC and how he could easily call Rep. Elijah Cummings to set up a meeting.
